Leaving My Thoughts (condensed)

This piece was written in response to Naviarhaiku 199.

    Going forth…
    Leaving my thoughts
    In a sasanqua flower.

This short piece for three instruments works on the idea of expansion and contraction, introduction and consolidation. The sasanqua flower is a Camellia, which in Japan symbolizes the divine, and is used in religious and sacred ceremonies. I tried to offer a set of ideas and then encapsulate them within something less fleeting.

I added (condensed) to the title because this short piece is the seed of an idea for a much larger piece, which I hope to be able to offer by the end of the year.

It was written for two horns and trombone.
